Congratulations to our 2021 Tales of the Dead Short Horror Story Contest winners! Three winners were chosen from two categories: Over 21 and Under 21. The theme for 2021 was “Ghosts in the Graveyard.”
First, second and third place winners for each category were selected by a panel of judges that includes a published author, librarians, community leaders and the library director. Criteria for judging included originality, fear factor and quality of writing.
For the first time ever, the first place winners were a father and daughter! David Sloan won the Over 21 contest and his 12-year-old daughter Polly took first place in the Under 21. Shannon Leigh won second place and Bill Sands third place in the Over 21 category, and Nicholas Krabitz, age 10, and Lucy Bray, age 12, took second and third in the Under 21 category, respectively.
The winning stories are now available, but be warned! You might not want to read them late at night…all alone in the dark…
